I. Preliminary Introduction of the Contest

Nowadays, various people are interested in aeronautical and astronautical engineering, but the majority of people who actively participate in activities related to aeronautics and astronautics are males. This leads to an imbalance in the proportion of male and female engineers and enthusiasts in this field. To encourage and support female aeronautics and astronautics enthusiasts to show their potential, interests, and hobbies, AEC decided to launch the Future Female Aeronautical Engineer Competition (FFAEC). We welcome all sorts of female participants to join our contest. It does not matter whether or not you have systematically learned knowledge related to aeronautical and astronautical engineering, and it does matter whether or not you are professional. If you are interested in proposing new ideas about aviation and space exploration, and you have the motivation and passion to bring new ideas that can change our world, AEC sincerely invites you to participate in our contest!

The size and technology of the drone is not limited, but the cost of designing and building it should be maintained within 5000 dollars. Upload an article (less than 15 pages) that describes your process of designing and building the prototype of the drone and a video (less than 3 minutes, less than 200MB) that demonstrates the function of drone.
  2. Search on the internet to look for pieces of information that are related to water-rockets. Try to build your own water rocket and optimize it to let it reach the greatest flying distance. Upload an article (less than 15 pages) that describes the working principle of a water rocket, the process for you to design and build the water rocket, and the testings done on the water rocket. Also, upload a video (less than 3 minutes, less than 200MB) that demonstrates your water rocket.

IV. Prizes Set for the Contest

Champions: 5% for the drone project and 5% for the water-rocket project (works will be permanently published on the AEC website)

Runner-Ups: 10% for the drone project and 10% for the water-rocket project

Thrid-Places: 15% for the drone project and 15% for the water-rocket project

Honorable Mentions: ALL participants who do not receive previous prizes will receive the honor!

V. General Rules and Rubrics of the Contest

0. This is the competition set for females. Male participants may join the competition, but SHOULD NOT submit the work as individual participants or team leaders.

  1. Cooperations are allowed in the contest. We encourage participants to join as teams. Teamwork is a crucial skill for successful engineers and researchers!
  2. Finding for help from experts is allowed, but the project should be finished by participants, not experts who are responsible for instruction.
  3. Be original! DO NOT cheat from others’ designs! We hope you to show your creativity and uniqueness to all of us in the community!
  4. Remember, this contest is FREE! We do not charge any additional fees on participants! However, the costs generated in the process of designing, building, and testing prototypes should be afforded by participants.
  5. All participants’ works will be evaluated via the following standards: creativity, originality, practicality, and the extent on meeting criteria mentioned in the challenges. The works from participants will be viewed by multiple people (AEC managers, science teachers, university professors, and AEC community members) to make sure that the result of the contest is valid.
